We put a lot of thought into the development of the new version and have tried to keep the handling of the previous version where it made sense and to improve it where it didn't.
A common problem with the previous version was how to remove saved locations.
Each location on the My Locations page now has a context menu which you can open by tapping the three dots next to
the location. In this menu you can find actions that can be applied to the location, removing it or pinning it to
the top of the list.
You can now also reorder the saved locations by dragging them up or down, just tap and hold the front part of a location row.
To change the current location there are now three possible ways:
Each view of the App has a help page, where you can find the most important information about it.
The options menu can be opened by pressing the menu button (if available on your device) or by tapping the three dots in the top right corner.
Once three characters where entered into the search you will see a list of suggestions. This way you can find and select a location very fast without having to type out the whole location name.
Press the search button on your keyboard instead, if you want to get more detailed search results.
The location view is now split into several tabs, to present you all the relevant information (radar, video, livecam) for the selected location.
If there is no radar, video or live cam for the location you selected the corresponding tab will be hidden.
Instead of the tab bar on the bottom wetter.com now has a side menu like you may know it from many other Apps. You
can open it by tapping the three lines in the top left corner or by swiping in from the left edge of your
screen.
Here you can find all relevant parts of the App.
The radar now also shows calculated forecast images that are displayed in sequence with the normal radar images. Below the radar map you can find a time slider and a play / pause button to navigate the radar images.
If you have location access enabled your current location will be displayed on the map. This can be toggled via the options menu of the radar view.
If there is a weather warning available for your location (only available for Germany at the moment) you can tap the banner on the forecast view to read the warning. There is also a warning map for the province the location lies in. You can tap the button below the map to navigate to the warnings section (also available in main menu), where you can see all warnings for Germany and its provinces.
We removed the time, when the widget was last updated, from the widget. This caused some confusion in previous versions as it was confused with the current or local time. Instead we will notify you of update problems by replacing the settings icon with a red warning circle. When you enter the settings (or press the warning icon) you can see the last update time. This should make it easier for everyone to understand what each time in the widget means.
